AMBERWOOD ANIMALS

RESCUE - CARE - HEALING - ADVOCACY

Our story began in the spring of 2021 when an opportunity arose for our founder, Mark, to prevent the remaining ten cows of a beef herd plus twenty sheep on a local farm from being sent for slaughter due to the farmer not being able to continue farming the animals.  Mark raised the money from friends, purchased the animals and started to rent the buildings and land on the farm with the view of setting up a permanent sanctuary.

We currently look after eight cows, twenty eight sheep and five pigs, all of who were at risk of neglect and slaughter.

One of the key intentions of the sanctuary is to widen public awareness in general and also  to include local farmers, many of whom have welcomed the presence of the sanctuary in the locality and have been active in offering advice as well as happy to provide services to us such as hay making and muck spreading. Forging positive relationships with local farms is a vital part of the health and wellbeing of the sanctuary as a whole.

We are located on the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire borders amidst an area of intensive animal agriculture.
